Installed the new slave yesterday, filled the reservoir with fresh Dot 3 synthetic, pumped the pedal several times and voila...half a container of Dot 3 on the floor...awesome.
Oh well, this is the hobby we choose... ;)

Well, true to form with Tom's "bolts right in" philosophy...looks like the hydraulic line may have been the real culprit.

True enough. I keep telling myself that if I didn't have to work on the car then the only thing left to do is wash and wax it...and I hate waxing.

Parts finally arrived yesterday, installed them and refilled the reservoir. Pumped up okay, a bit soft though, so letting it gravity purge overnight. Tomorrow I'll see if I can get any remaining air out of the cylinder.

Well, the fun never stops.
Went to Mike's today to help with the final bleeding of air out of the clutch slave cylinder. While we were trying to do that, Mike said the boot felt odd, and a piece of clutch facing fell out of it. It would seem the clutch itself has failed, so the trans will need to be pulled and the clutch, pressure plate and maybe the flywheel will need to be replaced.

That seems to be part of the price of enjoying the full Cobra experience. ~~(/)

And that's just what was found in the rubber boot covering the clutch fork outside of the bellhousing, I can only imagine what we'll find inside once the bellhousing is removed...

What Mike decided was the problem turned out to be true:
The flywheel side shed all of its bonded facing. Sad that the adhesive only lasted 20+ years ~~(/)
On the positive side, the flywheel looks OK. As you can see there's almost no evidence of metal to metal contact. The other riveted side is still in very good condition so the pressure plate is unharmed.
New parts on the way - we have the Cobra on the lift and the new stuff should bolt right in =))

This is what the disc should look like...my guess is that one broke loose and proceeded to take the rest with it in a speedy chain reaction... O::::
