All good advice the difference is I don’t want a shop to do the repairs. So as this is outside of the norm it’s a tap dance to align all the pieces so both the insurance co and I agree the repair price is fair.

Here’s a little humor to go with my bad day.
After being informed of the no insurance issue I decided to call the Duval Sheriffs Dept to inform them of the false paperwork on the at fault driver.
The Sheriffs dept said that sense the accident was on the interstate it was under the highway patrol and that she would transfer my call. By mistake she connected me to the fire department and I was asked to give the address of the fire. She then told them of her mistake
I then I informed her that while I was a bit heated with the no insurance I wasn’t quite on fire yet.
She had a good laugh about that. I think I made her day.

The highway patrol thanked me for the insurance update and when I asked him to go “getum” he had a bit of a snicker too.

Here is the latest update. I had my body shop owner friend come over and we came up with an estimate to submit to State Farm. State Farm had sent a claim assignment to a shop close to me, but after I informed them of what the Cobra was and what was involved, they refused to accept the claim.
This actually is good for me as it gives my request to handle the repairs myself is shown to be a good option as the Cobra is not a normal car repair.

For those interested the estimate came up to a bit over 16K. I have submitted it but with the holiday I have not heard yet if they will accept it or use it during our claim talks.

Now for the first set of setbacks. I talked to Randy Hunter and he is still willing to make the parts that I need. However, he has retired and this being the holiday season my best guess is around the first of the year before I can get the parts, hopefully.
Vintage Wheels also told me that 4 weeks for the wheel to be built.
So mostly I'm just sitting around watching the days click off.

Ken,

As always, real life! Some good news, some not so good. I do hope State Farm comes through for you. I know they have for us.

Randy doesn't have a body already made that he could saw the front off for you :auto-crash: does he?

Club Cobra is -at least for the moment- going again. Perhaps you could put a note there to see if anyone has either of those items stashed away? Sorry, grabbing at straws...

Fingers crossed that all goes acceptably well for you!

Tom

Randy only has one piece molded. It’s the nose but it only goes back about 5” or so. I need it but need much more.
