Ha ha, they both have their quirks, but yeah, Ford small blocks often baffle me…

Hee hee

I know all of us have been around long enough to know that on any given day, any of them can and will bite you

Mike, Boeing needs you! Your thorough preflights would really help them catch problems :auto-ambulance:

Okay, the mani is back in place. As expected, the water ports on the A50 gaskets are a much better fit and should definitely seal this time. I’ll let the sealant cure over night and try pressure testing again tomorrow.

Mike,

When I saw your picture of the new M-9439-A50 gasket in place I had major deja vu

Those look just like the Fel-Pro Print-o-seal gaskets that we renamed to Fail-Prone Print-o-leak!

If they have steel reinforcement, they should be fine. If not I'd suggest you take it apart one more time and go with Victor Reinz or similar. The Fel-Pro part number changed by adding an "S" at the end to indicate the steel reinforcement.

I dimly recall you were aware (maybe helped?) when my Cobra had that problem.

Mani gasket seems to be good to go, no obvious leaks under pressure, but now the CSR thermostat housing is giving me fits…
