You are correct Tom, those studs should be a touch longer, but I’m not going to mess with them for now. They fall into the “keep an eye on them” category…😉

I spent some time reworking/reinstalling the bulkhead window. It was a bit of a mess the way it was originally installed by the PO. Lots of drilling, tapping and clearancing was required. Got frustrated and took a few days off.

What a PITA, it took more time and effort than it should’ve, but now it’s one more task off the list…😎

Nice...but I do have one thing to add.....It's not PO. Its DPO. "Dreaded Previous Owner" :oldmoon:

Mike,

Gorgeous as always!

I was going to say FPO but that may not have been too socially acceptable :angry-cussing:

Well, having been a PO (DPO/FPO?) many times in the past, I prefer to take a more circumspect perspective…lord knows I’ve no doubt committed some, umm, sketchy automotive infractions at one point or another…especially in my younger years…

Besides, I also want to be respectful of the formerly living…😉

Btw, since we’re discussing sketchy PO installs anyway, I’ve come to the conclusion that the motor mounts bolted to the chassis were installed upside down, which is why they needed to be trimmed…oy…

Mike,

Upside down motor mounts???

I looked at your photos and have a question: would the engine sit significantly higher if they were turned over?

Yes, for sure. I’d have to move them lower and drill new holes to keep the motor and ZF level. It would be a fairly involved effort, not worth it at this point IMA.

Today’s hard-fought battle was plumbing and installing the remote oil filter assembly within the bowels of the LH sponson. I considered relocating it altogether to a more accessible spot, but decided to keep it where the PO put since it helps keep the engine bay a bit less cluttered, and since there are two gargantuan holes already drilled in the sponson where the 12AN braided hoses looped through…😳

Installed two 10AN bulkhead fittings in the two holes. Then I made up two nylon braided hoses, thanks to the use of Tom’s Koul Tools, to go from the bulkhead fittings to the remote filter assembly near the rear wheel. Mounted it all and hand torqued all of the fittings. The final assembly working inside the sponson area and trying to hold the bulkhead fittings from rotating was challenging to say the least, but I got it all done and I’ll be praying that none of the new fittings leak…🤨

I still have to make up two more lines to connect the engine oil pancake adapter to the bulkhead fittings, but that will be accomplished after the motor is back in the car.

I was able to complete the front end of the radiator vent line install today, but man, it gave me more trouble than expected. I seem to say that a lot these days…

The back end install likely won’t be any picnic either…

Finished routing the vent line through the engine bay, just need to make final connections once the engine and expansion tank are back in place.
