I pulled the crank today. Going to have it magnafluxed. Here are a few more pictures of the damage.

All 3 of the center main caps are broken and two main webs are cracked way into the cylinders...

The new engine block is due tomorrow. So I’ve started with the transmission upgrade. It’s the Tremec TKX. It’s a little bit fatter and looks like I might have to notch the frame a little in one place but I think the shifter is going to be in the same location, so no carpet work. 👍
Here’s a couple of pics of the mock-up.

Ken
PS..I used my plastic engine mockup block and I had the transmission too far back in the first testing....So no frame mods are needed. However the Shifter has moved about 2" forward so I will be messing somewhat with the shifter location and boot marks in the carpet...

Ken,

The block and transmission look really nice!

Just so I have it straight, you’re now goingto put a $3.00 salvaged crankshaft into a million dollar block. Correct?

The new TKX is all fitted and ready for the new motor to replace the plastic mockup block. I was able to reuse my old mount I just flipped it over, shortened it 3/4" and moved it forward about 2".I did have to move the shifter hole about 2" also, I just used a big hole saw and cut about have a circle with it.
The crank shaft is at the machine shop for the magnafluxing when it gets back I'll start to clearance for the rod bolts as the block is already set for 3.750" but my stroke is 3.875.
I called Comp Cams and talked to the Tech dept about having to use 1985 and up stock style roller lifters which is what Dart has allowed for and got good news that my retro style tie bar lifters that are also Comp Cam are the .300 taller style and will work in this block also...good news as now I won't need to get lifters, the spider and dog bone kit, and new push rods..about a $1000 work of stuff.

here are a few pictures.

Cobra update
While I have the car on the lift I took the time to clean the oil deposited from the holes in the oil pan from the underside of the car.
While I’m waiting for the engine parts I’ve started the process to repair the front body nose section of the car. Here’s a few pics.
