Re: Motor damage

Just ignore him Ken, that's what I do...:-)

Do we need to open up a gofundme site to help you out? :-)

Re: Motor damage

I've always installed petcocks on those drain ports on all of my engines, but the rust and silt that always clogs the port openings clogs the petcocks even worse, rendering them useless. Kind of like the shutoff valves under the sink that never work when you need them...:-(

Re: Motor damage

Tom,

SBC piston pins are almost always pressed into the rods, so unless Ken went with full floaters, I'd say a rod bolt let go or the piston shattered. :W:

The motor sounded very strong right up to the point where it all went quiet... :W:

Re: A Day at the FIRM

Yikes, that first shot looks like the Exxon Valdez oil spill.... :W:

I'm guessing a rod let go? Did you miss a shift and over-rev it?

Re: Ceramic coating

Oh yeah, forgot you have size issues...something about "if it matters what gear you're in" ...;-)

Thx, I'm sure I can figure it out.

Re: Ceramic coating

Tom, not being very fluent in Ford engines and associated PNs, what header gaskets should I be on the lookout for?

Ford installation pdf says E3TZ-9448-A Exhaust Manifold Gasket – available at your Ford dealer.

Re: Ceramic coating

Ha ha...never overlook an opportunity to provide engine porn pics...:-)

I vaguely remember that sordid tale related to the Zephyr's exhaust system, but forgot who did the ceramic coat. Thanks for the mention.

Mine are mild steel, not stainless.
