Re: Mike's GT40 gets redone
Waiting on some parts to complete the coolant hose install. While waiting, I didn’t like the two -10 remote oil filter hoses I made with 45 degree fittings, so I remade them with 90 degree fittings. Much nicer install now, and should allow a cleaner routing for the coolant hoses. I reshaped the dips...

Re: Mike's GT40 gets redone
It’s just an open end wrench with no handle, just a square drive, good for getting into tight areas where a regular wrench won’t work.

Agree that they’re rarely used, but very necessary, as in this case, where nothing else will work…

Re: Mike's GT40 gets redone
Today I reinstalled the rear sway bar, and made new -10 hoses to connect the oil filter sandwich adapter to the chassis bulkhead fittings going to the remote oil filters. I didn’t have a 1” crowfoot, so I had to modify a 7/8” crowfoot to tighten the fittings. I also started mocking up the dipstick, ...

Re: Mike's GT40 gets redone
Making good progress. I have most of the electrical system reconnected. Torqued all of the motor/trans hardware. Reconnected the shifter brackets/cables and the hydraulic clutch hose. Refit the AC compressor brackets, and realigned the pulleys with shim washers. Had to make a few trips to O’Reilly’s...

Re: Mike's GT40 gets redone
Major milestone today! William and his dad Heath came over this afternoon to help wrangle the drivetrain back in place. It was a bit challenging, but it’s back in and now I can focus on getting all the peripherals back in place. Still a lot to do, but this is the fun part…

Re: Mike's GT40 gets redone
The expansion and overflow tanks were a bit of a nipple twister to reconfigure and install, but one more task checked off the list. I made a few hard lines to connect the vent lines and the tanks together. Finished up a bunch of tidy-up tasks too. The focus now will be to get the motor and trans rei...
